In partnership with the US government, South Africa has launched the Global Vax campaign to speed up COVID-19 vaccinations and support to the aim of vaccinating 70 per cent of the global population .
At the launch event, Health Minister, Joe Phaahla said that, with this campaign, more people will get life- saving jab continuously because the vaccine remains the only protection against COVID-19 infection.
He also said that the aim of this initiative is to contribute to the goal to vaccinate 70 percent of the global population against COVID-19 in 2022.
Through a mechanism called’ Accelerating Development Against Pandemic Threats Activity (ADAPT), the global vax will be implemented. It will be managed by the NGO Right to Care in support of the national and local debarments of health.
